Relationship with other Associations
AFIF is very conscious of the need to keep in touch with activities
in other parts of the World and as such is an active member of the
following regional and global Freight Forwarding bodies:
 |
FIATA:- International Federation of
Freight Forwarders Associations . FIATA is the global representative organisation for our industry and is comprised of a number of ‘Institutes’’; ‘Advisory Bodies’; and Working Groups’ covering all aspects of international forwarding in all modes of transport. AFIF is an Association Member and actively contributes to working committees and disseminates information on issues affecting Freight Forwarding globally. Individual Freight Forwarding companies may also apply for Associate membership.
As a demonstration of our growing maturity, AFIF was extremely proud to host the 1998 FIATA World Congress, held at the Darling Harbour Convention Centre in September 1998. This event brought together 1000 delegates from 67 countries deliberating on all matters of International Transport Logistics and was held in Australia for the first time. In expanding its involvement within FIATA, AFIF now has representatives on the working committee of the Airfreight Institute and has a Vice-President representing Asia-Pacific on the Extended Board of FIATA. FAPAA:- Federation of Asia-Pacific
Aircargo Associations. The regional air cargo forwarding representative body comprising, as at 2008, 17 country or region Association members in the Asia-Pacific. AFIF is an active member and also maintains the permanent part-time Secretariat for FAPAA, under contract to the organisation. In addition to its pro-active representation in many facets of this organisation, AFIF is also responsible for arranging the annual FAPAA Executive Council Meetings (ECM) meetings within the Asia-Pacific region, in conjunction with the host Association. The meetings are the catalyst for improvements to air forwarding services around the region. Australia has held the annual ECM in 1991 and again in 2004.
