Dear {Firstname},

Amendments to new  IATA DGR 45 (effective Jan 04)

Pls note whilst the new IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) 45 are currently being distributed, IATA have published an "addendum" (attached) which should be included in your new Regs.  Pls check to see if these changes affect you.

In addition you may have also received glossy literature from the Australian Civil Aviations Safety Authority (CASA) regarding chnages to "Part 92"  of the Air Navigation Act. These changes as far as our Industry are concerned, primarily affect Shippers in that it is now an Australian Law that ALL shippers of Dangerous Goods require appropriate training and will need to be informed.  Whilst the Government have given a lead in period of 6 months for this law to take effect, we ask you to advise them as soon as possible and that AFIF can provide the necessary training.

In terms of timing, the new laws also now allow you to re-certify in the period up to 3 months BEFORE your current certificate is due to expire, whilst retaining the day/month of expiry 2 years hence.  Eg: A Certificate due to expire March 31st, 2004, then re-certification training can be undertaken ANY time within January, February or March 2004 and your NEXT certificate will remain current until March 31, 2006.    We hope this will help some of our members, especially where re-cert is due in December or January, or during any annual leave you may be taking.

Please advise all concerned.
