AFIF will be presenting a members meeting on Thursday, February 2nd at Tullamarine, the main topic of which will be the effect of legislation in regard to the container weight declaration for road transport as part of the concept of ‘chain of responsibility’.

This model introduces the concept that all parties in the road transport supply chain have obligations to improve safety and prevent a breach from occurring.

However due to the description of a ‘responsible entity’ forwarders and brokers are now faced with the possibility of being penalised for information to which they had no opportunity to validate.

It is essential that if you are in anyway involved in moving seafreight containers to or from the port on behalf of your customers, that you attend this seminar to ascertain your rights and responsibilities and to identify ways in which to cover yourselves adequately.
