Recently a number of
clients have become concerned with reports that we would only support the
MaxeTrade network.
In fact this is not the case, rather we have not yet agreed with MaxeTrade on
the basis of technical connection and we have never had any plans to
exclusively use Maxetrade.
edi refutes the rumour
that it will only support the MaxeTrade Network in its products.
We will however provide
support for MaxeTrade should our clients think it a viable and reasonable
option and should MaxeTrade provide the requisite technical, logistical and
functional support that our clients and we require.
Whilst edi should be
able to support clients that wish to have their customs entries processed and
charged at the MaxeTrade rate of A$4.90 per entry we want to make it clear to
all customers that we also support many other network providers and options and
always have.
Other network options
may be lower or no cost per entry. We are not disputing that the MaxeTrade
network is high quality, however, most current edi clients are electing to
transact their Import EDI processes in the same way as they are transacting
their Export EDI processes – that is with a good quality Internet
provider with the added security of signed encrypted Entries and a
“Interchange Acknowledgement / Retry” designed by Customs and built
into ediEnterprise and Deliverance to substantially guarantee reliability.
CMR Deadline Looming
The Minister for Customs
has now announced that, whilst July 19 will still remain as the last date for
implementation (without requiring legislative change), a review will be
conducted at the end of June as to the status of the testing between Customs
and Industry and an extension will be requested through Parliament should it be
required. Click on the following link to view the media release from the
Minister http://www.edi.com.au/documents/CMRMay05_TimeLineReview.pdf
The general
understanding is that ICS Import Release 5 will cutover around 1 October 2005.
This means that any shipments with an arrival date on or after 1 October must
be submitted using the Deliverance or ediEnterprise CMR version of Imports.
Our Deliverance and
ediEnterprise software upgrade will be made available once we have completed
testing with Customs.
edi will provide further
information regarding the cutover following the June meeting with the Minister.

Note: If you already
have a digital certificate in use with Export Declarations, you will not need
another Type 3 Certificate. This does not apply if you are
migrating from Deliverance to ediEnterprise. Sites migrating will need a new
Type 3 Certificate that is setup for ediEnterprise using a different email
address.
