Interim Sea Cargo Reporting Measures
Dear {Firstname},
Further to another meeting with Customs this morning and, whilst we await the outcome of the Minister's decision on the Industry preferred option (refer AFIF Bulletin last night), Customs have advised of an interim measure to assist with release of containers from the wharf which may appear 'held' in the Stevedore system. Quote: Issues between Stevedore electronic systems and the ICS have resulted in cargo clear status reflected in the ICS not being reflected in the Stevedore systems. This problem is currently being investigated. As an interim solution, Customs & AQIS will facilitate the movement of cargo that falls into this category through a limited contingency arrangement at major wharves. Freight Forwarders and Brokers are encouraged to identify the cargo that is clear in their system or the ICS and make normal commercial arrangements with Stevedores to collect this cargo. Customs and AQIS officers will be on-site to facilitate this process. All enquiries on this issue should be directed to the Cargo Systems User support framework on cargosystems@customs.gov.au
Thanks and regards , Brian Lovell
