Monday, February 20, 2006 Qantas Sydney Freight Terminal As you are all aware by now the redevelopment of the Sydney Freight Terminal has commenced and stage one is well underway. There are four stages to the works with an estimated completion date of the 30 September 2006 The Four stages are: Stage One is the expansion of the car park area at the southern / Export end of the terminal. This includes a separate entry with security boom gates tyre spikes and CCTV coverage via the driveway adjacent to the SACL building. This area will be for client airlines and staff parking. Completion is expected in 7 weeks. Stage Two is the expansion of the current visitor car park to house 20 vehicles and 22 truck parking/stand-off bays including semi trailer bays. This area will be used for loading whilst extensions are made to the Import Docks. Stage Three will be split into 2 parts allowing the dock area to operate safely whist the works occur. 4 docks at a time will be closed down to allow the extension of dock area and the awning above. Each of these stages is expected to take four weeks. The ramp area in front of the docks will also be re-graded and concreted. Stage Four is the extension to the caged Bulk 6 stowage area on the northern/ Nobby end of the building. This will double the storage area and allow larger cargo to be stored in this area. These works will cause some disruptions to our day to day operations and car parking within the terminal compound. With your help and cooperation the inconvenience will be kept to a minimum. The Chubb Security Officers will control the parking so please take direction from them regarding the safest and most appropriate areas to park whilst the works progress. Further Info Updates will be released during the redevelopment advising progress and changes to operations to help minimise disruption. Attached below are architectural drawings showing the outline of the redevelopment.
