AFIF 2018 CHARITY GOLF DAY

Thursday 16 August – Registration Open

The AFIF Annual Charity Golf Day has become an institution, with over $240,000 raised for the various beneficiary charities. This year, we will return again to the fantastic Macquarie Links International Golf Club on Thursday 16th August 2018 for an enjoyable day of Ambrose golf in support of the Golden Stave Foundation.

Registration is now open for teams and individual players. Sponsorship opportunities. We will be holding a silent auction and raffles on the day, items donated for inclusion in the auction are most welcome! Details and registration forms in Weekly News

AMSD – 100% Piece-level Screening of ALL International Export Air Cargo from 1 March 2019 – under 8 months to go – Update

The Government’s decision to expand the current 100% piece-level screening to USA, to all international destinations from 1 March 2019, will provide significant business challenges to freight forwarders, AACAs, RACAs, Known Consignors and CTOs. In advance of the Air Cargo Security Workshops next week, an update of current issues and work in progress with AMSD in the Weekly News.

AMSD – 'Export Air Cargo Security is Changing’ Information Sheet for Exporters – Repeated   

Aviation and Maritime Security Division (AMSD) has issued an information sheet entitled ‘Export Air Cargo Security is Changing’ to assist you in communications with industry participants and export customers. Details and Link in Weekly News

dnata has issued a Customer Notice and Amended Tariff of Terminal Service Fees, effective 9 July 2018. Details and links in Weekly News

DAWR – Seasonal Measures for Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) – 1 September 2018 - 30 April 2019 – Forwarders and Importers Affected

AFIF attended the DAWR BMSB Information session in Sydney. DAWR released an Update on 10 July, advising DRAFT measures to be implemented for the forthcoming BMSB season, commencing on 1 September 2018 to 30 April 2019. The BMSB threat has increased with the list of targeted countries, targeted high risk commodities and targeted risk goods expanding. Freight forwarders and importers will be affected significantly. DAWR – Highly Compliant Importer Project

DAWR, Compliance Division, is implementing a highly compliant importer project (HCIP).  Under the HCIP importers that have established a 100% compliance history through repeated physical inspection over an extended period of time for particular commodities, will be identified during entry processing and receive reduced intervention. Home Affairs-ABF – Illicit Tobacco Taskforce to Target $600 million Black Market

The Federal Government has announced the establishment of the Illicit Tobacco Taskforce, combining the operational, investigative and intelligence capabilities of the Home Affairs, ABF, ACIC, AUSTRAC, CDPP and ATO. The Minister for Home Affairs Peter Dutton said the ABF-led Taskforce would be pro-actively targeting, disrupting and dismantling illicit tobacco syndicates. Details and Link in Weekly News

Home Affairs-ABF-Border Watch – Authorities Shut down European Drug Syndicate

A European syndicate suspected of using tourists, including students and backpackers, to distribute illegal drugs imported from France has been shut down by a joint ABF & AFP operation. Over a six-month period, the operation intercepted about 40 packages of MDMA and cocaine. The drugs, which have an estimated value of up to AUD 3.3 million, were hidden in wine bottles, potato chip packets and chilli paste that were either packed in luggage or sent via the post. WestConnex – Traffic Changes at the Intersection of May Street, St Peters

Safety upgrade work is taking place to realign the intersection at May Street, Campbell Street, Bedwin Road and Unwins Bridge Road in St Peters. The changed traffic conditions will be in effect from Friday 13 July until October 2018. Details and map in Weekly News.

West Gate Tunnel Project, Melbourne – Traffic Impacts 

There will be traffic impacts associated with the construction of the West Gate Tunnel Project, each day from Thursday 12 July to Thursday 19 July inclusive. Sunday 15 and Monday 16 July 2018, 10pm-5am, the West Gate Freeway will be closed in both directions between Millers Road and Williamstown Road. WiseTech Global Signs Distribution Agreement with 3Gtms

WiseTech Global has announced an international distribution agreement with 3Gtms, a multi-modal domestic transportation management system provider. 3Gtms’ transportation management system, 3G-TM, is a solution for mid to large third party logistics providers, shippers, brokers, forwarders and other non-asset based transportation companies that manages and optimizes the full transportation lifecycle.
