AFIF 2018 CHARITY GOLF DAY

Thursday 16 August – Registration Open

The AFIF Annual Charity Golf Day has become an institution, with over $240,000 raised for the various beneficiary charities. This year, we will return again to the fantastic Macquarie Links International Golf Club on Thursday 16th August 2018 for an enjoyable day of Ambrose golf in support of the Golden Stave Foundation.

Registration is now open for teams and individual players. Sponsorship opportunities. We will be holding a silent auction and raffles on the day, items donated for inclusion in the auction are most welcome! Details and registration forms in Weekly News

There has been an overwhelming response from industry to the Air Cargo Security Workshops presented by AFIF and supported by CBFCA, CAPEC and FTA. Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne Workshops were full houses. There are as few places remaining in Adelaide and Perth. Be quick if you intend to register.

AMSD – 100% Piece-level Screening of ALL International Export Air Cargo from 1 March 2019 – under 8 months to go – BNE, SYD & MEL Workshops - UPDATE

The Government’s decision to expand the current 100% piece-level screening to USA, to all international destinations from 1 March 2019, will provide significant business challenges to freight forwarders, AACAs, RACAs, Known Consignors and CTOs. The common theme in the 3 sessions is there is a lack of awareness amongst industry participants and exporters in particular, on the serious ramifications for industry participants who are not preparing their businesses NOW. AMSD – 'Export Air Cargo Security is Changing’ Information Sheet for Exporters – Repeated   

Aviation and Maritime Security Division (AMSD) has issued an information sheet entitled ‘Export Air Cargo Security is Changing’ to assist you in communications with industry participants and export customers. Details and Link in Weekly News

DAWR – Seasonal Measures for Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) – 1 September 2018 - 30 April 2019 – Forwarders and Importers Affected

AFIF attended the DAWR BMSB Information session in Sydney. DAWR released an Update on 10 July, advising DRAFT measures to be implemented for the forthcoming BMSB season, commencing on 1 September 2018 to 30 April 2019. The BMSB threat has increased with the list of targeted countries, targeted high risk commodities and targeted risk goods expanding. Freight forwarders and importers will be affected significantly. DAWR – Changes to Import Conditions to take Effect 25 July 2018

DAWR has issued a Notice applying to importers and customs agents of medicinal mushrooms, seeds for sowing, dried herb products not for human consumption, timber and timber products, sawdust and woodchips, returning Australian goods of animal and microbiological origin, and various biological commodities. Home Affairs-ABF – Depot and Warehouse Licence Renewals

Unpaid Depot & Warehouse licence renewal invoices are now considered overdue. Warehouses with unpaid licence fees require immediate payment or are at risk of suspension. Fees must be paid within twenty-eight days of the date on which they become payable. Details and Link in Weekly News

Home Affairs-ABF – Upcoming Weekend Outages to the ICS – 18/19 & 25/26 August 2018

Please be advised that the ICS has two extended outages coming up in August 2018 that will occur outside of the normal outage window. Industry clients should make arrangements to have cargo cleared outside of these hours. Details in Weekly News

Home Affairs-ABF Border Watch – Seize Fake “Australian made” Pianos 

ABF is continuing its operational focus on trade enforcement, seizing ten Chinese-made pianos falsely claiming to be Australian made. The instruments arrived into Brisbane on 2 June 2018 and carried a number of logos and stamps, claiming the products were “designed and assembled in Australia”. Details in Weekly News

Legislation to safeguard Australia's critical infrastructure and strengthen the Government’s national security posture against risks of sabotage, espionage and coercion in the electricity, gas, ports and water sectors has commenced. The Act establishes a register of Australia's highest-risk critical infrastructure assets, including information on asset ownership, access and control. Details in Weekly News

Amendments to the Road Transport Act 2013 - Effective from 1 July 2018

West Gate Tunnel Project, Melbourne – Traffic Impacts 

There will be traffic impacts associated with the construction of the West Gate Tunnel Project, each day from Thursday 19 July to Thursday 26 July inclusive. Details of the road closures and diversions in Weekly News.

WestConnex – Traffic Changes at the Intersection of May Street, St Peters - Repeated 

Safety upgrade work is taking place to realign the intersection at May Street, Campbell Street, Bedwin Road and Unwins Bridge Road in St Peters. The changed traffic conditions will be in effect from Friday 13 July until October 2018. Details and map in Weekly News.
